GodsBigBlog: Muslim Women Are Doing Well in America

By Barbara Falconer Newhall

Muslim women in America are doing pretty well. According to a newly released Gallup Poll, female American Muslims are more likely than their male counterparts to have college and post-graduate degrees. Not only that, their level of education is higher than any other group of women in America, except Jewish women.

They attend religious services just as often as Muslim men — unlike Muslim women in other countries where mosque attendence is primarily male.  And, they  have income levels that are closer to those of Muslim men than are those of women compared to men of any other religious group.

For details, go to Laurie Goodstein’s article on the Gallup Poll findings in today’s New York Times. And, this coming Friday, check back here for a review of a book called The Muslim Next Door — by one of those highly educated American Muslim women.
