GodsBigBlog: Human justice? Compassion? Who gets the credit?

I’m wondering –
Food for the hungry? Clothes for the needy? Justice for the oppressed? These feel like new ideas to me, products of modernity, of Western society and culture, values we generous, enlightened moderns have figured out for ourselves.

But some would say that these are God’s ideas and they are really, really old. What do you think?
